I mow and have HATED it. DESPISED it. tried to AVOID it. I mean I married a plumber who use to work in the family landscaping business I should not have had to mow, right. Except my hubby is a plumber and never home. So I struggled and struggled. Cussed and broke things. Until well last spring when we moved into my FIL's house which is now officially our home.
An around the corner neighbor drove by and saw me cussing up a storm and got out of his truck and went and sat on the porch with Pop. The 2 of them have been neighbors and friends since 1954(Pop and the neighbor are both 81 years old) and somehow it came up that I attacked the lawn like my MIL did and didn't I know the trick. So the neighbor Cooper called me up to the porch sat me down for a lesson.
I was using the wrong mower for me. He highly suggested I go to his house every day for 1hour a day for a week and then he will gift me the right mower. So i did as he said and learned to take apart, rebuild, sharpen blades and such. While working he watched how I moved and that mower I built was for me. Yup totally custom mower. Now stupid string I was not strong enough to pull instead it has a toggle like switch, no stupid oil thingy I forget to fill just a filter that I wet with oil before mowing, self propelled with tall wheels so I do not have to adjust the height of the blades, and a grass/rock catching bag.
Now I LOVE mowing. So my best suggestion is go to the neighborhood lawn mower repair guy and tell him what you hate and what you like and see if you too can get a totally custom lawn mower.
